What we need to do is really think about what your NOW and NEAR FUTURE needs are.
Will you be doing shows? Will the site be more for posting thoughts? Are you going to sell stuff? Do you need a showcase for video clips?
What do you want your site to do for you?
Our goals for Nicks new site are as follows:
- replace vbulletin with wordpress for the site back-end
- schedule updates, blog updates via email
- real time video/audio sales from mobiles (itunes, amazon) during or after a live show
- easier to navigate with a finger for broadband mobile scheduling / ticket purchases
- showcase for radio clips (Stern, O and A, Dennis Miller, Dan Patrick so on)
- password protected areas for his agent(s)
- further rooting into facebook, twitter, itunes, amazon, google, yahoo
One mistake we made in the past was assuming entertainers wanted / needed their own internal community… which is why we chose Vbulletin forums but as it turns out entertainers are TOO BUSY and generally don’t have time or resources to moderate a real-time, user generated internal community. This is best left to the pros at Facebook, Twitter.
